Civil engineering

Greater safety by using innovative techniques

skip: Greater safety by using innovative techniques
Working to professional standards at all times is an absolute must in the civil engineering field. We therefore place the highest possible value on the qualifications of our engineers.

Civil engineering work is not only performed at great depths. Certainly not at Deutsche Bahn.

It is vital when preparing the subsoil, base layer and base ballast formation to ensure the levels and gradients are always correct. For this purpose, we use bulldozers fitted with laser technology. It ensures that the bulldozers infallibly produce the correct values using blades controlled, as if by an "unseen hand".

Special lifting and slewing limit switches ensure that, even when close to the de-energised catenary system, our excavators work safely and without causing damage to the same.

Great value is placed on ecological construction.

With materials recycling, ballast cleaning, the use of fly ash for soil improvement purposes, etc., we not only build in a way that is easy on the environment, but also preserves our natural resources.

Civil engineering also means coming to terms with and overcoming local geological conditions.

Dewatering the track formation is carried out using trackside drains, subsoil drainage and seepage beds or basins. The accumulated water is then diverted into the public network using subsurface drains or collected in an ecologically sound manner in rainwater retention tanks or evaporation basins.

We combat unfavourable soil conditions using soil improvement methods. The subsoil is prepared with the aid of special systems, such as vibrating tamping columns and cutting-mixing-injection procedures. This means that even unstable embankments or moor areas can be improved to support traffic.

Within Bahnbau Group, civil engineering services are provided by Ibb GmbH and DGT GmbH.
